OK, don't mess with me. I had good intentions to write a script using WMI and provide all the necessary information about the hard disk to the script. That's the main task it serves - handling the hard disk. And instead of writing a simple one-line script for this purpose, I wrote a complex application. Not a single line was written by hand, the bulk of the work was done by the component for reading and exporting the hard drive's data to a file. I've finished the work in the beginning of November, but I didn't test it thoroughly. Suddenly, UPS delivered an additional hard disk to the office I was staying. It was a nearly new, 27 GB MQ02BN. Today I remembered about this disk and decided to patch the attached script. I did that a few hours ago and I'm glad I did it. It's solved the serial number problem. Now the thing is that the serial number reported by the application is perfectly valid. It matches the model, the serial number written on the drive's label and the one returned by PowerShell as well. d2c66b5586
